Joseph Wallace is a film and theatre director from Bristol, UK whose practice is fuelled by a desire to tell stories. Joseph has created animations for film, theatre and television and his live action work ranges from fiction pieces to dance and documentary films. His short films have won awards and been screened at festivals internationally. His graduation film was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru award in 2012.
He has performed, written, designed and directed for devised and scripted theatre from political pieces to work with young people. Joseph is an associate artist of Twisted Theatre, Fairground and the Wardrobe Theatre. Drawing and writing play a large part in his work; his illustrations have been exhibited in galleries in the UK and he has written for various magazines and blogs.
Joseph has a first class honours degree in animation from Newport Film School, has trained as a performer and theatre-maker and studied film production on the European training course Animation Sans Frontières. Collaborators include; BBC, Bristol Old Vic, Handspring Puppet Company and Real Design & Media and his work has been featured on Motionographer, Future Shorts and Vimeo Staff Picks. Joseph now lives and works in Montpellier, France as part of Caravel Collective.
